"Fill Their Stockings With Hope Update..." and Christmas Has Begun!!

Emme-8272

For those of you who have reached out to me, I just wanted to let you know that we expect "Fill Their Stockings With Hope.." to be back on-line soon. Worst case we hope to re-launch with "Cyber Monday" tomorrow!!! We have so many great products to share with you!

So during my blog break from that I had to share a little of our "Trim the Tree morning!" Emme was right in the middle of it all, climbing the ladder and hanging ornaments! I think she is going to love Christmas. I wonder if she will love Santa? We should find that out soon!

Ainsley does a great job of making all of it special for her sisters!!! Like her Daddy, she gets into the Christmas spirit early!!!! Right now she is dressed up as Mrs. Claus and she is trying to convince the "middles" that she is the real deal!!! She cracks me up!

A Quick Update!

untitled-8221

I had to take "Fill Their Stockings With Hope" off-line to update a few things, so I thought I would share a few pics from Thanksgiving!!! It was a great day!!! My awesome husband spent the afternoon in his happy place, our new kitchen!!! We shared dinner with some special friends and Aunt Bop! Emme loved playing hostess, and we all had a great night! As you can see from the photos below, we also had gorgeous weather.. The first Minnesota Thanksgiving I can remember where no winter coat was required!!! I hope you are all enjoying a beautiful weekend with family and friends!!

READY, Set.....

Wow, have we received some fabulous donations. We feel so blessed by the number of people who have reached out to help us “Fill Their Stockings” this Christmas. Truly, we have been just blown away by each and every one of you that has reached out to help us with this effort… thank you all so much. The best part? We are just days away from kicking off this event – a fundraiser that will make a difference in the lives of some very special children in China this Christmas.

And each of you has an opportunity to help us, help them.

Are you ready?

Here is just a sampling of some of the delicious items that will be featured…

FTSmosaic

Looks like fun, doesn’t it?

So, here are the details. Starting November 25th and running through December 23rd, each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, we (Stef, Lisa, and I) will feature a special product on each of our blogs. That means 3 items each giveaway day, for a total of 9 items every week. The gifts will range from $50-$500 in value – and all of them are fantastic.

For a chance to win the item featured that day, all you need to do is leave a comment on that post and then click a button to donate $5 to the organization that we each represent: Lisa for Half The Sky, Diana for Pearl River Outreach and me for An Orphan’s Wish. Your donation will go directly to the charity featured, and we will be notified of all donations made. For every $5 donation you make, you will be entered to win the item posted. If you’d like more entries, just make a larger donation! If you make a $25 donation, you will get 5 chances to win, and so on. And yes, if you’d like to enter on all three of our blogs on any given day to win one of the three items we have featured, feel free. The more the merrier!

So, you get a chance to win an exciting gift for yourself or someone special on your Christmas list and, at the same time, you are helping to make a difference in the lives of orphans in China, halfway around the world.

Sounds fun, doesn’t it?

But right now, just days before kickoff, we need to spread the word about this special event. The more people who know about it, the more money will be raised for these very special children… and that’s a very good thing! If you’d like to help us in this effort and to keep in the spirit of “giving” this holiday season, read on – there just might be something special in it for you, too!

A “Spread the Word” giveaway…

tinasteinberg

Before we kick off the “Fill Their Stockings” event – to encourage you to spread the word – we will be giving away a $100 gift certificate to Tina Steinberg, maker of “unordinary personalized jewelry”. To enter, all you have to do is grab the “Fill Their Stockings” button below and post it on your sidebar, and then leave a comment on this post letting us know that you’ve done so. If you have not visited TinaSteinberg.com, you must. And be sure to check out her “Love Touch Collection” – sterling silver charms and pendants with your loved one’s fingerprint. Each design comes with a short inscription on the back. Truly one of a kind!

To double your chances to win the $100 Tina Steinberg gift card, just post on your blog about our “Fill Their Stockings” effort, with a link back to one of our posts detailing the upcoming event. Remember to leave a comment on this post to let us know what you did to help spread the word, and you’ll be entered. Please leave one comment for each entry… so if you posted a button and shared a post, leave two comments.

THANKFUL!!

untitled-8181Edit

It seemed appropriate that Emme Jade's first pre-school Thanksgiving feast was on her anniversary of being home three months! When I arrived, Miss Cyndee (her teacher) came up to me and told me she went around the room and asked each child what they were thankful for. Emme's response, "My Mommy!" It makes me tear up writing it. Miss Cyndee is a special teacher, and we are grateful for the way she loves our girl two mornings a week!

I can't imagine life without her joyful smile, adorable laugh, and sassy little foot stomp when she wants something!

I love this.. It was hanging on the wall by their classroom.
We are thankful for you too, Emme Jade!
You are a blessing!

Emme Jade's First Haircut at Home!

EmmeBries-8129

Brie has been cutting hair for our family since Ainsley was 4. She has done Ruby's first cut, Sienna's first cut, and today it was Emme's turn!!! At 5:00 Ainsley and I took her. She was so excited! She actually ran up to Brie, gave her a hug, and pointed to her hair.. She was ready for her turn in the chair!! We had seen pictures of Emme in Yangzhou getting her haircut at the orphanage. Perhaps the setting was a bit different today, but she definitely knew what to do! She was perfect for Brie!

EmmeBries-8138

The "Little Bean" looked really little in the shampoo chair!

Emme-8140

She was very curious about Brie's gorgeous necklace, so Brie gave it to her to play with while she cut her hair.

Emme-8145

Right before I took this shot, one of the stylists asked me how to say, "beautiful" in Chinese. She then went over to tell Emme how beautiful she looked. Emme smiled and nodded her head up and down!! She was very excited when she was all done!

EmmeHaircut-8161

I love the back.. It's a cropped "Bob".. Just like Ruby used to wear. Brie said Emme's hair is a lot like Ruby's.. Lucky girl!! Emme's so tiny, that I think this style is precious on her. She still has all that length to do her famous pigtails!

Emme-8151

Waiting patiently for her lip gloss from Brie!

The final part of the Spa Experience!

EmmeLipgloss-8154

A little "lip-gloss kiss" for Mom!

Emme-8159

As always, thank you Brie! Emme looks precious!

A Sweet Heart...

Emme-8068Edit2

It didn't take long to learn that Emme Jade was born with a beautiful heart. At pre-school pick-up yesterday, one of the Directors from school went out of her way to tell me that she is amazed at how happy and joyful Emme is. I have to agree with her.. It doesn't matter what it is. When we arrive anywhere that requires separation from us, Emme is quick to say "goodbye" to us, and "hello" to what is ahead.. Always with a smile and with confidence. It's a special gift for any toddler! I think it's unique to a little girl who has been home less than 3 months.

I wish I could say Emme's behavior is something I can take credit for. But truthfully, Emme was born with a joyful heart.. And, she was clearly very loved in Yangzhou.. Together that combination has created a healthy and well adjusted little girl!

November 18th we will be home 3 months.. What a blessing these first days with her have been! I took these photos of her after school yesterday... I am getting her used to wearing a hat. Soon she won't leave home without one!

Have a great weekend!!

Just Life...

Emme-RubyAction-7485

As I type I see the first snow flakes of the year.. I am not sure I am ready.. To be honest, I am in denial that the holidays are around the corner.. There is a lot to do when you are still moving into a house, and getting settled.. Slowly we are making our new house a home...

Jeff and I have been feeling the stress of being un-settled. Our personalities don't do well with moving boxes stacked in a corner, and things un-done.. As my wise friend Kim reminded me yesterday we did move and go to China within two weeks of each other.. And, then we came back with a new child and hit the ground running... Life did not slow down for the rest of our family... There is school, activities, life.. Thankfully, Emme Jade has adjusted like a rock star! She is such a blessing!!!

Speaking of blessings, the other sisters are BUSY! Volleyball has sadly ended, and a new academic quarter has begun. When did 5th grade get so hard? Ainsley has been studying for a test on the middle east with Jeff! WOW, there were some big things to understand and memorize! Sienna and Ruby continue to thrive in Kindergarten. They are learning to read which is so fun to watch evolve!! Gymnastics has us at the gym two afternoons a week for our "Tiny Teamer" Ruby Mei. Sienna just started back to join her sister on Wednesdays!

Bunk beds arrived for the "Middles" and Miss Emme Jade is now in a big girl bed! She looks so tiny under the covers!

Ski lessons are on the calendar, Christmas concerts are already being practiced, and I have a fun trip to look forward to in December! I will admit, a little break will be good for this Mama!

I am very excited to be a part of the "Fill Their Stockings With Love" event that kicks off on November 25th! It has been so fun to work with two of my favorite blog/adoption/photography Mom friends, Stef and Lisa! We hope you will all participate to help us make a lot of money for the children!!! We have received some awesome donations! THANK YOU!!!

So, that is an update on the crazy and the mundane at our house.. More soon!!
