The Opportunity to help Foster a Child in China!....
Some day I will share why this program is so near and dear to my heart. But, that's another blog post for another day. For now, I want you to know that Pearl River Outreach is looking for sponsors for their wonderful Bamboo Babies Program in China!
When you sponsor a child you help to provide stipends to foster parents to provide for food, medication, and baby formula for your child. But, because of the state of the financial market today, programs like this one are being affected. The cost of rice and formula are increasing which is making it difficult for PR to maintain it's monthly support of these children at their current rates!
So, I am taking this opportunity to encourage you to check out Pearl River's program. You can sponsor a child in full, or share the cost with a friend. You can also make a donation to their general fund. You can learn more about their programs at their website.
I hope you will have the opportunity to change the life of one of these beautiful children!

Checking In!!!!
Hi Everyone!
I am attending a Photoshop Class today. I am very excited to see what this fabulous program can do for my photos... True to my sabbatical goal I am playing with my new camera, and venturing outside of the "green box!" I have some huge goals to learn more in the months ahead. I exchanged my "Mac Daddy" lens for the Nikon/Nikor version and I am sooooo happy!!!

New Haircuts and a little time off for the Diamond!
It was a Spa afternoon for The Pearl & The Ruby! They both desperately needed haircuts! If Ruby didn't have a bow in, we couldn't even see her precious face! And, I don't think Ainsley had been in since school began! So, they both got a little pampering, and they look beautiful! Ruby was so great for Brie! She didn't even flinch when her bangs were cut! The highlight of this event is always the lip gloss at the end!!!!
On a seperate note, I have decided to take a little blog break! I want/need to take this month to get organized. I also want to spend my free time learning how to work this fabulous new camera that Jeff blessed me with! Please check back on us in February! Hopefully, Ruby will be napping again, and joyfully (and willingly) going into her bed at night! I look forward to that future post!

Thank you!
Just a quick note to thank those of you who sent me comments/emails on ideas to get Ruby to stay in her bed. The "crib tent" seems to be a recurring theme! I am not sure I am ready for that step, but if I try it I will let you know! We have had so many peaks and valleys with Her Rubiness in the past nineteen months in this area. I think the hardest part for me has been the loss of her consistent 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon. One thing I do know is that she is not ready to give up her nap yet. By bedtime she is exhausted, which really means over tired. I will admit that she does seem to do better in this area when I am not here to put her to bed. Again, the litter mate!!
Yesterday we attended a 2 year old class that we have been doing since September. For the last 45 minutes of the class I meet with other Mom's and a parent educator. I brought up our latest challenge. In a group of 15 mom's, Ruby is the only 2-3 year old in our class that is easily getting out of her crib, or refusing to stay in her bed... My teacher suggested I try something that gives Ruby control... I tell you this, because it may help some of you down the road... She said give Ruby 2-3 tickets. When/if she gets out of bed it costs her one ticket. If she runs out of tickets there is a consequence like the door is closed, baby gate goes up, so she can't get out of her room.... Well, Jeff was gone last night and Ainsley and I tried this... Unfortunately, it did not work..She definitely understood the plan, and she happily handed over her tickets!!!:) We had lots of tears at the door for about 20 minutes. Finally, I gave up because I was envisioning a nightmare where she is locked in her room... We went into my room, where she finally passed out from shear exhaustion on my bed. I put her in her crib at 9:00 and she slept through the night... Not ideal, but better than 10:00....
One thing I can say, is that Ruby in the past has learned to go to sleep on her own. In fact, we never drew out the bedtime process because it made things harder. I would put her in her bed with, night light, milk, music, prayers, and that would be it. Same with her fabuolous naps...
So, I will take this as a six month growth spurt (she has hit the 2.5 mark) and hope we go back to easy nights soon. When we get there, I will be shouting success from here. In the meantime, I am thinking about calling Officer Wilson for reinforcement!!!!!

A few more...
A few more pics from the weekend that I wanted to add. I have had no time to touch any of these up. The outdoor lighting is tough when the snow is flat, and sun is not really shining... Lots to learn in 2009, including Photoshop!!!!
P.S: If anyone has any tips for helping us to get Ruby to stay in her crib at bedtime, I am all ears... She continues to want to get out (which she can easily do) and control the situation... When she finally decides (on her terms) to stay she sleeps through the night unless she has a bad dream.. Which seems to be a lot lately!!! Our strong willed & "moderate" sleeper continues to live up to her reputation! :) *We tried a "big girl" bed at the cabin with the same results. Ugh...

Cabin Weekend!
We headed up north to our cabin on New Years Day! We were greeted by about 2 feet of snow! Jeff and Ainsley kicked off the weekend with a huge snowmobile ride! Our dear friends the Schmitz's were up at their cabin too so we played all day on Friday with them. Her Rubiness loved the snow! She stayed outside for almost three hours building houses, snowmen, and making snow angels! Ainsley perfected her skating skills, and I took some fun outdoor photos with my new camera! We cut it short today because some nasty weather was settling in. It's hard to believe that Ainsley's Christmas break is almost over. How does the time go so fast? Tomorrow I hope to be breaking in the new gift Jeff and I got each other.... a new Tread Mill!!!! Yes, I will admit it, I have indulged in one too many Christmas Cookies and Godiva Chocolates!! Even The Pearl very sweetly told me she thought it was time for me to try out the new exercise equipment! Nice!!
