Celebrating 10 Years and an 8th Birthday!

Ten years ago today, Jeff and I were married in an evening wedding in Nashville, TN.  It was a small and beautiful celebration at the home of one of our dear friends.  This is the cover of our wedding invitation...

One of my favorite photos from that day.  Look how handsome he is!

Keith's yard was a site to behold.  A Master Gardner's Masterpiece!

When I look back at that day, I have such wonderful memories.  It was un-traditional, lovely, and perfect wedding for us.  It was the beginning of quite a life together.  God clearly knew what He was doing when he brought us together.  He had a plan that would un-fold distinctly in a few short years! It started with a beautiful little girl, named Ainsley Kathryn being born on June 12, 2001 at 7:55pm.  Yes, she came into this world on 6-12 at 6 pounds, 12oz and at 18.5" long on our second wedding anniversary!  What a blessing she is!  Happy 8th Birthday Ainsley!  We love you!

Celebrating 8 with a new sassy hair-doo!

I am grateful for ten years with a man who loves me, respects me, and always puts God and his family first!  I love you honey!  I look forward to the adventures of the next ten years!

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Chef Ruby!

In Ruby's words, this was another "fun day!"  The three of us headed to the MOA for some shopping and amusement park fun.  Ruby went on her first two rides.  Not a big surprise, she loved them!  Ainsley was thrilled to run in to her best friend "little Katie" so she could go on the real Roller Coaster with her.  Do you remember that one Grandpa?  Anyway, it was a fun way to kick off Ainsley's first full week of Summer Vacation!  Let's not forget The Pearl turns 8 on Friday!  She is so excited!

These photos are from today.  Ruby was helping me get dinner ready.  While I was doing my part, she was busy making her version of a Strawberry Pie!  I love her enthusiasm for everything!  Chef's hat, and apron... Her idea!

It's a fun/busy week here.  I hope to touch base before Friday!

Pearly Whites!!!

Her Rubiness had her first trip to the dentist yesterday!  Thanks to some serious acting from her big sister she was so excited to go.  Ainsley had her convinced going to the dentist was as fun as going to Disney World!  Considering her big sister is not a big fan of anything relating to the dental chair, I was very impressed!  Ainsley can take the credit for her little sister getting an A+ on her first visit!  I was amazed that they were able to do everything, including polishing her teeth.  She chose the cookie dough toothpaste (yuck) and the cherry flouride!  She left smiling with a balloon and a new toothbrush and big plans to floss more!

Way to go Ruby!  And, Ainsley... A++ to you.  Awesome big sister and no cavaties!!  You Rock!

Love,
Mom

Pachebel's Ballerina!

The Pearl had her ballet recital tonight!  She was so excited!  Aunt Bop, Aunt Lisa, Ruby and I cheered our ballerina on!  Jeff is traveling, which made him and Ainsley sad...  No worries I have the video!!!!

Our girls night out continued to Ainsley's choice for dinner.  So we went to Culvers!!!  We even let Uncle John join us!  Nothing like a great burger, fries, and ice cream after a big performance!!!!  Well deserved!

The bun is out, the makeup is gone, and my beautiful ballerina is sleeping peacefully!

Ainsley, it was a blessing to watch you tonight.  Your smile lit up the stage!  I love you!

So Long Front Teeth and So Long 2nd Grade!!

Ainsley says goodbye to second grade with the cutest gap in her front teeth!  She lost her second front tooth in time for her Dad to be here to assist, and for her friends to see the Ainsley delta.  She looks adorable to me!

Today I was invited to a sweet awards program that her teacher did for her class.   Each child received a "Fruit of the Spirit Award" and a note from Mrs. W.  Here is what she had to say to The Pearl:

Award:  "The Spirit of Gentleness"

"Dear Ainsley,
You are gentle in all you do!  You are kind to others and are careful when you borrow something.  Your sweet, gentle spirit makes it easy for you to make friends.  God has blessed you with a gentle spirit."

Love, Mrs. W

"Let your gentleness be evident to all.  The Lord is near."
Philippians 4:5

Ainsley also received the "Most Improved" reader award along with some other fun awards today.  I am so proud of you Ainsley!  You have learned so much this year.  I love seeing who God is creating you to be!  You are wise and beautiful on the inside and out.  I know He has great plans for you!  What a blessing to be your Mom!!

The Beautiful Bouquet!

Ruby and I spent our morning at a beautiful spot at The Arboretum.  She indulged me with some great photo opportunities.  As you can see she was busy creating a beautiful bouquet of flowers that had fallen on the ground.  It reminds me of my wedding bouquet!  I just love how some of these photos turned out of her.  It is hard to believe that she is two months away from being 3.  The baby face is gone, and I now see a little girl behind my lens...  If you ask her her age she replies, "Two/Three!"  Her favorite book right now is, "Go Dog Go!"  So we are cracking ourselves up over here with the "Do you Like My Hat" lines!!!  She is a constant stream of hilarious material.  I am thankful for this blog to record much of it!

Tomorrow The Pearl graduates from second grade!  She also has a toothless grin for it which I will share with you all on her Graduation Day Post!  We look forward to bringing The Pearl with us on our Arboretum adventures soon!

It's going to be a busy week here!  School ends, Ballet Recital, and more!  Here comes Summer!

Blessings,
