Ruby Tuesday Recap!
As you can see by this photo, Ruby Mei got to visit her Daddy today! It was a very special first birthday because we were all together! I think Ruby would tell you that she loved her first bites of frosting and white cake! We figured that out when she literally put her face in her cupcake! Priceless!
We got to check off one in the good day column for Jeff overall today! Not only did seeing and holding his daughters make him happy, he got rid of his catheter, and found out he definitley does not have West Nile. Lymes is still at the top of the list, but the DNA test on it is still outstanding. We are hoping he will be home by the end of the week.
Thanks for your continued prayers for healing! I am off to bed. This girl is exhausted!
Blessings,
Diana
Happy Birthday Ruby Mei!

Her Rubiness is One!!!! Happy Birthday Ruby!!! What a gift that we get to celebrate with you!
(I just updated our Adoption Site if you want to see what Ruby has been up to lately. Just go to www.myadoptionwebsite.com/diandjeff)
"Thank you Lord for picking this precious child to complete our family! Thank you for her birth mother who was forced to make a very difficult decision one year ago. Thank you for Mei who found Ruby and reported her abandonment to the police. Thank you for Ruby's foster mother that loved her until we could travel to China to bring her home. Thank you for Jeff and for the Dad that he is to his girls. We thank you for hope, and pray for healing as we learn to take one day at a time through this trial. We are so grateful for the faith that you have grown in our hearts. We know we can lean on you to get us through the roughest of days."
Jeff Update: It was a rough day today. Please pray for the final test results to be completed today so we can move forward with his recovery plan asap. Overall, it was just a discouraging day for him. We were warned that we would have ups and downs and we will just take this one day at a time. "I can do everything through him, who gives me strength." Ph 4:21
Happy Ruby Tuesday!

Life as I know it today...
Today was a new day, and I just felt at peace when I woke up. I called Jeff's nurse before 7am and found out he had slept great last night. The steroids did not make him sick, and she was actually able to get him out of bed to stand for the first time. I arrived at the hospital with Jeff's brother around noon to find this handsome guy, with a sexy scruffy beard almost sitting up in bed. His doctor came in and could not believe the change in one day. Answered prayer! We know from what we have been told that Jeff may have set backs as we go through the next several days. So we take each one as they come. And, we continue to pray for healing, for wisdom, and for peace.
Thank you to Kim (3 peanuts) and to all of you who have posted and prayed for our family.
We are so grateful. Nothing is too small or too big for God!
I will continue to update when I can. Tuesday is Ruby's birthday, so she may be celebrating #1 at Abbott Northwestern's Neurology Wing!!!
Blessings from a grateful wife!

Another Thankful Thursday!

I am going to make this a very short post tonight. Not because I am not thankful for all of my many blessings, but because it is late and I have a very sick husband in bed in our guest room.
I will post more on this when we have some answers. For now, I sure would appreciate your prayers for Jeff to feel 100% again soon!
My thankful ponderings...
1. Good health and great genes passed down to me and Ainsley from my Mom!!
2. Two healthy little girls sleeping peacefully as I work on this...
3. Air Conditioning! It has been one of the hottest weeks on records here in MSP. I feel like we live in Miami or Houston today.
4. Kids Kamp - Ainsley has been at a fun day camp all week that is being hosted by five special teens.
5. Molly - Our incredible nanny who took care of Ainsley when I was working full time. Molly still helps me out occasionally just so she can spend time with our girls! Tonight was supposed to be "date night" for Jeff and me. Instead, she took care of the girls, and I took care of the Jeff!
Not exactly the date we had in mind, but at least we were together...
6. Julie's Home - My dear friend Julie who is the Mom to Ainsley's best pal Katie just moved back to EP from Toronto yesterday!!! We met in a parent/child class when our girls were 6 months old. Julie is pregnant with baby girl #2 and I am so excited to have her home!! And, of course Katie and Ainsley are thrilled to be together at last. Negotiations for the first slumber party are starting already. Help - they are only 6!!
7. Erika - Our favorite photographer, who graciously is allowing me to share these special pictures here. I am saving my very favorite for Ruby Tuesday, July 31st.
8. CCAA, (The Chinese Center of Adoption Affairs) - For matching us with Ruby Mei. We prayed that we would have her before her first birthday so we could celebrate it with her. Next Tuesday is another Ruby Tuesday! July 31st our baby will be 1!!
9. Flowers - I received a beautiful bouquet of baby pink roses today. It's amazing how a surprise deliver of flowers can brighten your day.
10. Long distance girlfriends - You know who you are and I miss you!
"Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1Th 5:18

My First Thankful Thursday Entry...
Thanks to my blogging friends to whom I look up to, I am borrowing the "Thankful Thursday" idea! Thanks Kim & Lisa! Here it goes... Today I am thankful for:
1. The two gems pictured above! A sister bond is growing daily between the pearl and the ruby. I am so thankful for this!
2. For beautiful summer days in Minnesota! Today is one of those throw open the windows, and enjoy God's creation kind of days!
3. For long naps! As I type, Her Rubiness has past the three hour mark of a great nap. She had her first photo shoot today without Mom behind the camera. I guess it wore her out.
4. For great neighbors - My wonderful friend Kristi called and invited the big sister over to play. So, while Ruby has been napping, I have been enjoying the silence and getting a lot done!
5. For things to look forward to - We are in the process of planning our first family beach vacation to Seaside, FL in October.
6. For wonderful opportunities - My very special big sister Barbara is off to Harvard on Sunday for two weeks. She is going to be one of 80 people attending a leadership/manangement program. Back to dorm life and studying everyday. We are so excited for our Ivey League Student!!
7. For Jeff - For putting up with all of the estrogen in our household. He has his hands full with The Diamond, the Pearl, and the Ruby!
8. For our lake house! - A very special place where we all love to be
9. For a beautiful brown eyed girl from China who has slept through the night without a peep for the last two nights!
10. Nine years ago yesterday I had my first date with my wonderful and amazing husband!!
I will close with that for today. Ruby is up, and Ainsley is on her way home!!!!
What are you thankful for today?
Blessings,
Diana

The Magic of the Mouse...
These two pictures of Ainsley & Ruby have a lot of significance in our family.. You see the mouse has played a big part in my life, Jeff's life, and ultimately in the life of our girls.
In 1982 I had my first job working for the Walt Disney Company. I was part of the traveling show, Disney on Ice. It was the second year that the Ice Follies had used the Disney Brand for their shows. Truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me.
Ten years later, I found myself back working for the mouse. This was the year that the Lion King was released. I was hired by Disney Interactive to join their national accounts team. It was an awesome job that I loved. I lived in Chicago and Minneapolis selling for both DI and Buena Vista Home Video. This is where I met Jeff. In 1988 we met in Las Vegas at a launch party for Pocohantas II. Shortly after that I left the Walt Disney Company to work for Atari for 7 years. But, once again in 2005 the mouse came calling. I left Atari and went back to BVHE to join the National Accounts Team. This time it was a short term job that I left to stay home with the girls last summer.
So you see, if it had not been for the mouse, Jeff and I never would have met, and the girls would not be part of our story. Ultimately, it is God who orchestrated the details of our family, but he used Disney as our meeting ground.
Thanks Walt!
Blessings,
Diana
