Emme's Medical Update

Let me say this is the FIRST photo I have taken of Emme since we came home from China where she has been a willing participant.. This adorable dress is from the "Wesleigh Jane Collection!" Thanks TeaCup!

Many of you have asked how Emme's health is.. We have now seen a few of our favorite doctors.. The Pediatrician, Pediatric Surgeon, and Pediatric Cardiologist. Overall, Emme's health looks very good! Praise God! But, she does have a few things that we will be addressing in the next month. She will be having surgery on October 26th to repair three things. We are thankful for the relationship we established with her surgeon, Dr Steve last year when he removed Sienna's spleen! She is going to be in very good hands. He has already promised this Mama he will take care of her just like his own little 4 year old...

As for Emme Jade's heart.. It's even more special than we already knew! She came to us with a repaired PDA, VSD and PFO... But, on Monday through an echo-cardogram we found out she also has "Bicuspid Aortic Valve." While we were disappointed to hear this, the good news is that we caught it, and there is no murmur! So, we will have regular echo's to make sure she is stable.

One thing is for sure.. Emme Jade is not a big fan of doctors, nurses, or anything medical. Poor baby... She is the first to say "bye bye" when an appointment is over!!! Even mid-appointment on a few occasions!

Other than a few necessary vaccinations, our little girl looks great! We continue to be impressed with the care she received in Yangzhou and the accuracy of her file.

She continues to thrive, and love school, and her routine here. I need to get her on video talking.. It's pretty cute!

Thanks for your concern about Emme Jade. We think she is doing beautifully!

Diana, I am sorry to hear about the little surprise during the echo, but glad overall she is doing so well! She is absolutely beautiful! I agree about receiving accurate information in the files of these children, it certainly helps families prepare, and that is a God send. Blessings to all!

BTW . . I was really going to go crazy during the Matilda Jane Mayhem, but apparently you and I have the same taste. Thanks for saving my checking account. ;-)

Glad Emme is doing well! I have a 17 year old son with a bicuspid aortic valve and it's not even a blip on the radar screen. We go for yearly echo's, and that's about as big a deal as it has been. Hope and pray that Emme is as fortunate!!!!

she will be in our prayers. Jadyn has an echo every 6 months. She relaxes and watches a movie. She was so scared when she first came home too, but now, totally relaxed.

Well, as you know she is absolutely precious and, overall, it sounds like a good health report. The 'surprise' is now going to be monitored as it should be and as such, will likely be a nonissue for Miss Emme Jade. So glad that she has such diligent parents to take special care of her!!

Hi Diana, I'm sorry I rarely comment although we used to be email buddies "way back when". I read all your posts on your blog and love to read about your precious daughters.

My husband has a bicuspid aortic valve. Weird timing of your post because he is having valve replacement surgery on Monday. He made it to age 48 before having to have it done, and he still has no symptoms whatsoever from it. Yearly echoes as everyone has stated, otherwise it hasn't impacted his life (until now of course).

Well, nothing quite beats a "clean bill of health" - but you know and trust in the Great Physician!! He will heal Emme Jade's sweet heart!

Meantime, she is stunning!! Really she has great hair.

Love your blog!! I have immense respect for you and your husband for adopting 3 beautiful daughters. I am a retired Social Worker so I have seen first hand how adoption truly impacts the lives of children. I know you have such admiration for Ainsley and how she has embraced each of her new sisters!!
I will keep Emme Jade in my prayers for successful surgery and quick recovery.
