Thankful Thursday!

"The joy of the Lord is your Strength."  ~Nehemiah 8:10

Today I am thankful that we got to have our sweet friends Michelle, Lauren & Nicolas up to the lake with us last weekend.  Many of you have followed my friend's story, and I thank you for praying for them.  Life without Scott has been very hard, but they are am amazing threesome, and they will make it through this very difficult time.  Michelle is blessed with so many gifts, and God will use her to love and raise Lauren & Nicolas with patience and wisdom.  She will be the first one to admit how hard life is here, but she also will tell you that we are just a "mist" so, make your time here matter!  Scott knew that, and he did make a difference.  He left a wonderful legacy for his children in his short 45 years.

The verse quoted above, is the first memory verse that Ainsley & Lauren have this week.
A perfect verse for the year ahead.

So much to be thankful for!

Bubbles and Butter....

Ruby's first "Corn on the Cob!"  She LOVED it!

Yesterday after homework and piano practice The Pearl and The Ruby ventured outside for some bubble fun!  When I heard all sorts of girly screaming & giggling, I grabbed my camera to witness the fun.  They were dancing, jumping, and enjoying being little girls on a beautiful day.

As for the corn.... YES, we live in Minnesota where the corn is knee high right now!  But, I rarely think to grab it for dinner.  I finally served some last night.  I will admit, it was a highlight watching Ruby enjoy hers!  As you can see, she had no trouble figuring out how to butter it!  She just kept repeating, "Yummy" with that buttery face!!!!

We are in to day 3 of school.  The first spelling pre-test was today already!  Hopefully, she did great!

Blessings,
Diana

Happy Birthday Aunt Lisa!!!!

Lisa and I have been friends for 34 years!!!  Our Mom's set us up on a blind sleepover date when we were in elementary school!  (I can't imagine doing that to Ainsley now!)  Lisa has been one of my BFF's for all these years!  We have shared a lifetime of memories.  Some good, some bad, most hilarious!  We have laughed until we have cried, and cried until we have laughed!  There are volumes of good material between the two of us.  At the end of the day, Lisa is one of those friends that would drop anything to be there for me.  I love this girl!  We shared a business together for 3+ years, and we are still friends!!!!  Ainsley coined her "Aunt Lisa" when she was a baby.  It is fitting, because in every way she is like a sister to me!  She loves our girls like they are her own!   And, that includes the canines in our family!!  She is the only friend I would ever ask to take our dogs when we are gone...  She is an unselfish friend, with one of the best personalities on the planet!  I hope we have 34+ more years together!!

We love you!

I hope those of you who have one more week, are enjoying it!  We are off to a good start here!

The Last week of Summer!

Ruby's first middle of the lake swim with Daddy & Ainsley!
Right before she jumped......
....off the boat to Daddy!!!  Way to go Ruby!

One week from today I will be packing a lunch, making a respectable breakfast, taking first day of school photos on the back deck, and car pooling again!  We will have a second grader!  How can it be?

We will make the most of this week.  Play dates, last minute school supplies, meet the teacher Open House, etc...    Other than Labor Day, this will be our last long weekend at the lake.  It has been a great summer!  But, it has gone way too fast.  The good news is that Ainsley is looking forward to school.  That's all we can pray for every year!

Ruby will have a fun fall too.  This year she will attend a 2 year old class with me, Bible Study with me and a fun toddler gymnastics class which I know she will love.  She has learned the term, "Stick It!" from watching the Olympics....  As I have said before, Jeff and I will not be surprised if she is destined to spend her free time in a gym someday.  The higher the better for Ruby Mei!

What will be new for me this fall?  I am going back to work!!!!  Yes, you read that correctly.  But, this time it will be short-term, part-time, and working for Jeff!!!!  Today is my first day of training!!!  Without getting into all of the details, Jeff and I worked in the same industry for many years.  So, this is not a big stretch for me.  I will be filling in for two girls that he has going on Maternity Leave.  I am actually looking forward to it.  Our care for Ruby is still up in the air, so I may be working from home during nap time most days.  But, until Labor Day our regular fabulous baby-sitter is going to help me out!

Well, I have to go.  Time to figure out what I am going to wear to my first day at work!  :)
(No photos on the deck though!)

Have a great week!

Diana

Uncle Mark!!!

It didn't take long....
So happy to see her Uncle again...
Finally, the three are together!!!
A special picture...
So sweet!

It was short and sweet, but as you can see it was great to have my brother here.   I have always adored my big brother, and I love our visits, no matter how short or long they are.  It did not take Ruby long to decide he is a pretty fun Uncle.  He even got a kiss on the cheek, a hug goodbye, and lots of high 5's!  These are a few pics of Uncle Mark with his nieces.  We love you Mark!  Come back soon!

My brother Mark is coming tonight from Texas!  I have not seen him since April of last year.  Which means this is the first time he is meeting Ruby!!!!  We are so excited for his visit!
