The Graduate!

Daddy & Daughter bringing the "snack" (graduation cake) in!

The Graduate!

Teachers:  Miss Karen, Miss Cheral, & Miss Nadi

The Class of 2024
Ruby with her "Buddy" or "My Best Friend Molly!"

Her Rubiness has graduated from her Two Year Old Class!  Precious does not begin to describe the graduation ceremony complete with the Graduation Music and Graduation Caps!  Six years ago we watched Ainsley step up on to the exact same platform with the same wonderful teacher!  Miss Nadi is a legend in our town.  She is truly the Two Year Old Baby Whisperer.  Ruby has grown in so many ways since our first class back in September.  We will truly miss this wonderful program.

Thank you Nadi, Cheral & Karen for a wonderful first year of "school!"  We will miss our Monday mornings with you!

All About Ainsley!

Hello Kitty Day!
Arboretum with Mom & Ruby...
The Opener!
Tooth #4... Gone!

While we have been busy re-visiting our trip to China and celebrating Ruby Tuesday the Pearl has been a busy girl.  She will tell you that there are only 16 days left in her school year, and 34 days left until she turns 8!  Most of her spare time is spent on trying to decide what kind of birthday party to have this year.

Ainsley had a fun modeling opportunity last Monday.  We went on our first outdoor shoot for the Target Back To School Catalog, (yes already!  Christmas will be shot in June.)  She is going to be modeling a super cute tiny "Hello Kitty" digital camera.  Playing photographer on camera was not too much of a stretch for her.  She truly morphs into this professional when she is on these shoots.  It is really fun for me to witness from the sidelines.  I am including a photo of her I took from that day.  I just love how the make-up artist did her hair.  Ainsley rarely lets me play stylist so I do  live vicariously through watching a stylist do it!  She still lets me help pick out her clothes, but the hair is another story!  She is thinking about cutting it off for "Locks of Love" this summer.  As much as I love her hair long (when styled) I really hope she does!  What a blessing for another child.....

We had a fun weekend at the cabin.  Ainsley thought it was pretty cool to play "hooky" to celebrate Ruby Tuesday.  We of course, had to remind her it was a privilege!  She won't be so excited this afternoon when we are sitting at the table doing the homework she missed!  It was fishing opener here in MN.  If you have followed our blog for  a while you know that this is a Daddy/Daughter event for our family.  She and Jeff found their "honey hole."  So, we will have lots of fish photos for you on another post!!  I believe the last count was 14!

Lastly, she ended the weekend by losing tooth #4!  She is still hanging on to that second top tooth, but I am sure it won't be for long!

Well I am sure there is a lot more to report, but I need to go and chat with the tooth fairy!

Happy Monday!

Then & Now! - Day 2 with Her Rubiness!

Yesterday we decided to celebrate Ruby Tuesday by pulling The Pearl out of school for a family day.  We drove up to the cabin for the weekend.  This photo is of the girls playing with Ruby's new water table.  Her Ruby Tuesday gift!  We ended the day with a fun celebration cake.  When we would ask her, "What is today Ruby?"  She would say, "My special day!"
It was a great day!

This photo is from our first day in Nanchang with Ruby after Ruby Tuesday.  As you can see she had just been crying....  We cheered her up by showing her how darn cute she was in the mirror!!!  It was our big adventure to the crazy Wal*Mart in Nanchang.  A true experience.

We journaled about the day after Ruby Tuesday here!

Celebrating Ruby Tuesday!

Her Rubiness Now!

& precious Ruby two years ago on Ruby Tuesday...

We journaled about Ruby Tuesday here!

"We go together that's what we do, we go together because you love me and I love You!"   (This is a line out of a book that Ruby and I read often.  She has it all memorized.  When it comes to this last page, I say, "why do we go together?" And, Ruby sweetly and softly says, "because I wuv you and you wuv me..."

Dear Ruby Mei,

It doesn't seem possible that it has been two years since we made that special trip to bring you home.  Two years since we saw your beautiful brown eyes for the first time.  Two years since we walked in circles telling you we loved you in Chinese.  Two years since we held you and loved you for the first time.  Two years since we witnessed the miracle of becoming your parents in the most amazing way.  To this day, we are humbled by how blessed we have been by answering God's call.

Our hearts have been changed forever because of you!  Thank you for being the light that shines daily.  You are a constant reminder of God's faithfulness and answered prayers.

"I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him."

Now & Then - One day away from Ruby Tuesday!

Our amazing Jiangxi Jewel Now...

Well the time we had waited almost two years for was finally upon us.  We were one day away from meeting Yue Meng Ru!  We flew into Nanchang on Monday morning where we were greeted by the famous and very special Mary, our guide.  Mary would become not only our labor and delivery nurse, but our dear friend.  To this day we keep in touch with her, and she has been an amazing blessing to our family.  This was the woman that handed me our daughter.  I will never forget her!

Now & Then - Day 3 in China

Yesterday when I picked up Ruby from her BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) 2 year old class, she came running to greet me with the Mother's Day card she had made for me...  She wrapped her arms around me with a big smile and said, "I Wuv You, and I Missed You Mama..."!  With tears in my eyes I held that precious girl so tight...  I will cherish my first handmade Mother's Day card from Ruby Mei and that moment in time forever!

Looking back two years we still had not met the tiny girl that would change our lives forever.
We were attending an incredible Christian Worship Service, shopping for Jade, and climbing the Great Wall.  We were only two days away from Ruby Tuesday now...

We journaled about our adventures on May 6th here.

Thanks for re-living our trip with us...  Jeff and I were just saying we are so thankful we documented it then.  We would never remember it all...  Thanks Joe & Jen!

Blessings,
