Today...
We survived day one of Baba and Jie Jie back to work and school. It started out pretty rough. Sienna was devastated when Jeff took Ainsley to school. It took a good 3o minutes for her to rally. She gets so frustrated when things don't go her way. But already we are learning to just let her go. She allows me to pick her up when she is upset, which I think is so positive. In China she would just push us away...
I had my first taste of what it will be like to get out the door with "The Littles!" (Or, Thing 1 and Thing 2 as we lovingly refer to them sometimes!) I seriously did not get it together until 11:00 today! How do those of you with twins get anywhere on time?! I will take any tips you want to send my way! Just when I thought the car seat was going to be a non-issue with her, we almost had our first Officer Wilson meeting!!! Yes, washer board back, and mad as a hornet to be in her seat from the grocery store to Ruby's pre-school... Even Ruby had to cover her ears. That should give you an idea of how Sienna can light it up!!! Poor thing.... I hung tough, dropped Ruby off and went to Jeff's office. Once we got out of the car for a while she was fine. She went back into her car seat after our lunch like nothing had ever happened!!!
When we got home, she and I were having a great afternoon until she got her foot stuck in our couch... She was screaming "LaLa" at me. I had no clue what was going on, and I didn't realize she was stuck.... Well, once I did and pulled it out, she started laughing at me like what part of "Help" don't you understand? I know now that Lala means pull!!! As in pull my foot out of this couch Mama!!! Good grief, poor Sienna has got to be wondering what in the world is going on!
Speaking of communication.... Everyone told me she would catch on to English quickly.. Well you were not kidding... She is a sponge!!! Today, she shared all sorts of waves and byes to people we ran into. Our extrovert is starting to surface. What I am pleased to see, is that she stays close.... And, constantly checks to see where I am.
I am getting lots of Mama's now, which I love. She is making me work for the kisses though. The Jie Jie gets all of those!!!! What I love about Sienna is how she slowly shares all of her very special layers... There is so much to this precious girl!!!
Many of you are probably wondering about her health. Right now we are meeting with her Hematologist on March 26th. Unless something changes, we are going to keep that appointment. We want as much time to build on the trust that we have established with her. We are anxious to have her tests done, so we know what exactly we are dealing with... We do know that God has blessed us with one very special little girl!!
Off to watch the news for the first time in almost 3 weeks!!! Speaking of days.... two weeks ago today this child rocked our world!!! Amazing, how much has transpired in that time already with her. One thing is for sure.. Our hearts are a whole lot bigger!

4 Days Home with Miss Sienna Grace!
There is only one way to say this, "Re-entry" after a China Adoption is brutal! But after four full days home now, we are coming out of the fog! Last night everyone finally slept at normal times, and in their own beds! A huge victory!! Just in time for Ainsley to go back to school and Jeff to go back to work. Wow, am I going to miss them!!!
Sienna is doing beautifully! We are so proud of her! She is such a different child than the little girl we met in Changsha just two weeks ago. Considering all that has happened we are just thrilled with her progress. She is attaching well, and beginning to trust us. She is happy most of the time, and so silly! She and Ruby are doing as well as we could ask for. As you all would expect de-throning "Her Rubiness" has not been easy! She is clearly the baby in this family, and we are happy it is going to stay that way! Sienna has handled her meltdowns so well. She usually gives Ruby what she is melting over, or puts an arm around her to comfort. She is so sweet, and a wonderful big sister!
We are starting to slowly hear some English words come out of Sienna's mouth. Our favorites so far, "Get Away" to our two dogs, and "Yummy" in the aisle at Costco when she saw Noodle Bowls! Too funny!
It is clear that she understands a lot of what we say, which is so amazing! Noodles and eggs have become a staple around here. We love watching her eat with chop sticks at each meal. She has such finesse. I think we have our future surgeon in the family.
We have had many wonderful moments, but I will close with this one story because it is late...
Tonight Ainsley got a sliver in her foot... I had her on the kitchen island trying to get it out.
Sienna was very interested in watching. She held onto Ainsley's hand, and one of her legs very gently. And, she tenderly kept looking at her to make sure she was "ok." We could not get the little sliver out, so we moved Ainsley to better light to a chair in my office. Now this was at Sienna's eye level. She started to assist, pressing on the area where the sliver was trying to help. But, not like a four year old. Like a child who has assisted in a surgical office! In the end, Sienna was the one that got the sliver out! I am not kidding!!!! This last photo is of her involved in Ainsley's "Procedure!" There are many sides to Miss Sienna Grace!

Welcome Home Sienna Grace!
We arrived home at 6:30am on Thursday morning! Thanks to our wonderful friends who got up early to meet us! In every way it was an amazing day! We are so happy to be home!

Sweet Sienna
Sienna has improved Praise the Lord!
Here is an update I got from Diana late last night...
We did go to the Children's Hospital, and we left as fast as we arrived. It was like a Mash Unit! Our wait would have been 1/2 a day in an outdoor waiting area as big as a football field. Literally, people everywhere, very sick people. There was no way that Sienna was going there!
Prior to leaving for the hospital, Sienna was very sick unable to keep any fluids in here. Upon returning she finally drank some Sprite and it has stayed down. We just heard her first words of the day, "Jie Jie!" Two good signs!!!!
Here is what we need.. We are going to request that the American Consulate expedite Sienna's visa so we can fly home Wednesday night! Please pray that we can get this done!!! We know it is possible with a medical concern!
Praying for more good news soon, so we can get Sienna to a "real" doctor!

This morning, Diana says that Sienna is perking up and showing more of her spunky personality.
She wrote,
She had a great burst of energy and we saw a little of Miss S again. I will say the benefit of her being so sick was getting to love on her.. Jeff too.
It is still their hope to get an expedited visa so that Sienna can get care here in the US as soon as possible for her long term medical issue. Thank you so much for your faithful prayers. You can see more on the travel site.

UPDATE
Sienna woke up after a fairly good night of sleep with her lowest fever so far of 101.5! Praise the Lord. We are now dealing with a little girl who is run down, and is unable to keep anything in her tummy. And, she is refusing liquids other than a sip of sprite so far. We are waiting for our guide where we will be taking her back to the American Clinic for an evaluation. Our assumption is we will be seeing the walls of a hospital in China today. Unfortunately, due to her Thalassemia our fear is that her oxygen levels are low from her high fever. This truly is your worst nightmare as an adoptive parent in China waiting to go home. But, we know that we have to do what is right for Sienna.
She continues to be a brave little girl with an inner-strength that one can't help but be in awe of.
We will not lose hope, but cling to God's promise to love an protect us all. Thank you for interceding on our behalf! I will get back to Kim when I can."
