Katie & Mike's Wedding - The Salon

It wasn't that long ago that Brie was getting Ainsley's hair ready to be the flower girl in Molly's wedding... Saturday it was Sienna & Ruby's turn. As I knew she would, she turned our little girls into regal, magical flower girls. It was the perfect start to one very special and happy day... Brie also did Ainsley's hair. Honestly when I saw her at the wedding, she took my breath away.. It was a flash forward..

*Tomorrow I will post wedding photos.. I felt so blessed to be able to take some behind the scenes. Katie and her attendants looked gorgeous! Everything about her wedding day was beautiful.. Until then here are the "littles" before they got dressed for pictures!

(And Ainsley has quite the Social Calendar this weekend too... In addition to the wedding she is going to The Third Day Concert with Jeff tonight, and Sunday she has received a very special invitation to attend a reception for the King and Queen of Norway!)

Emme Jade: Surgery Update and More Info on The LIttle Bean...

I have to remind myself that I have only known Emme Jade personally for 8 weeks. It's hard to remember a day that our smiley, loving little bean with the pigtails, hasn't been part of our world. She is precious beyond words...

An MRI taken on October 3rd and a meeting with a renowned Neuro Surgeon in Minneapolis on Monday has revealed that Emme Jade has a tethered cord.. While we are very sad to know this, we are so thankful it has been diagnosed. I won't go in to detail now, but unfortunately we are facing some big decisions that involve major surgery for our sweet little girl. We humbly ask for your prayers for her protection as we wait for one more test to be completed and for direction from her Neuro Surgeon and his team. This will all take place in mid-November! I have chosen to share this now because I am on a fact finding mission and I know there are some readers out there who have experience with tethered cord.. I also understand that all cases present differently, and not all children require surgery. I would love to connect with you to learn more.

For now, we are focusing on October 26th. Emme will be in the hospital hopefully for only one day/night. She is having three things repaired: A sacral dimple*, herniated umbilical cord, and a "foreign object" (believed to be a piece of graphite) is being removed from her leg. It is only because of this dimple that we found Emme's tethered cord.. While the two are completely un-related God used it to get an MRI ordered. Thank you Lord! Sienna's surgeon, Dr. Steve will be operating on Emme on the 26th so we have confidence she will be in great hands.

After we get this first surgery behind us, I will share more about what's next... In the meantime, we will continue to pray for clarity, discernment and peace! And, we give thanks that God brought Emme home to us when He did!!!! None of this is a surprise to Him! One of my sweet friends just emailed me this reminder... There is no obstacle too big for God! ~Amen!!

Emme's First Minnesota Fall!

We have had a gorgeous fall here in our neck of the woods.. Sunny, beautiful days with the colors bursting everywhere. It's been un-seasonably warm too.. Perhaps after our very long winter, and another predicted for this year, God decided to bless us abundantly here! We are praying over here that Katie and Mike will have a perfect day on Saturday... Only five more days until "Katie's Day" as we refer to it around here.. (Sorry Mike!)

With Ainsley and her friend Kate's assistance I took these photos of Emme Jade. I think she looks pretty sweet in a hat!!! Good thing, because they will be part of her daily wardrobe soon enough!

"I am NOT going to be a Pirate!!"

One week ago, Sienna and Ruby were invited to a birthday party for a little boy in their class. When the Mom called me she said it's a pirate theme... Here is my conversation with the girls when I told them about the party...

Me: "You have been invited to Josiah's birthday party next Saturday!"

The Girls: "We know that!"

Me: "I talked to Josiah's Mom, and she told me it's a pirate theme and all of the kid's are dressing up..."

Ruby: "I am NOT dressing up as a Pirate" "I am not going...."

Sienna: "Mama, I will dress up as a Pirate.. I just LOVE birthday parties!"

Me: "Well Ruby you will be going, since you were graciously invited.."

Ruby: "I am not going...."

Me: "Ruby, you could dress up at Tinkerbelle, or Izzy from the Disney Pirate show.. She's an adorable pirate..."

Ruby: "No that's OK.. I will just stay home!" :)

Well the conversation went on where we had a little etiquette discussion, and a talk about the importance of supporting your friends, etc... I am happy to report that Ruby IS going to the birthday party! And, with any luck at all, she will be a Pirate for Halloween too.. I think they are adorable in these costumes!!! (Purchased at Party America.) Rumor has it, Jack Sparrow or Captain Hook may be available for trick-or-treating if she does!!!! :) Oh, and let's talk about how cute Emme Jade was in an eye patch last night.. Too bad she's not invited! My guess is Ruby will have a great time at this party.. She's never been one to miss out! Especially when there is cake and ice cream involved!
