Day 2 in The PICU...

EmmePICU-9659FeetBLog

I forget that the second day after surgery can sometimes be harder than the first.. Our's has started out that way... Emme is showing her spirited side... Even flat on her back she has found a way to stomp her feet, and show us how she really feels about this surgery... I felt like I was in a boxing match from 4:30-6am with the Little Bean! And, then again with Daddy here for two hours this morning.. She has verbalized that she is not happy with either of us today! She seems to be resisting the drugs that were knocking her out yesterday... So, a new "cocktail" has been started, with another one coming later today.. As much as I hate to have all of this in her system, it is better than having to restrain her or allow her to hurt herself. The good news is her vitals are holding steady.. She is retaining a lot of fluid, that we hope will be released today too... We have also gotten the green light to let her sit up a bit, just to calm her down and make her more comfortable. Bottom line, she is miserable and mad as a hornet!! We all agree it is a good thing, she is so cute!!!!

The funniest line of the morning in the heat of it all was when she screamed... "It's my birthday!" Well, actually that is July 24th... But, it was the comedic moment we needed during what seemed like a battle that would never end..

She is peaceful now, and we will continue to pray for God's healing hands on her little body and for his protection over her!

Poor baby girl!! I can see her fluid retention a bit in her sweet little face. Lovin' her fiesty fighting spirit though...so reminds me of my own little girl in medical situations!! ;-)
Praying she has a nice nap and feels more content upon waking. Recommending DVD player and an IPAD stat! In all seriousness, thinking of you all and praying for a speedy and full recovery for little Emme.

Poor girl in the hospital on her birthday! What a cutie! We are praying Diana, I know this kind of challenge can be emotionally as well as physically exhausting.

We'll continue to pray for Emme's healing and for strength for you!

Oh poor sweet girl! Can't blame her a bit for being upset, but I know how important it is to keep her from hurting herself. Hopefully the new "cocktail" will help. and Lol on the birthday! Nice try, Little Bean!

Oh...sweet little peanut!

Sofie just had surgery and spent 3 days in the hospital and yeah, day 2 was really hard for her too. So tough to watch our babies hurting.

I hope the best for your Little Bean...no complications and continued healing. She is in good hands!

Oh sweet thing!!! Sweet and spicy!
I know when L got her tubes she woke up crazy mad and loud!! She's so calm and passive, just a really mellow go with the flow kid ( from Hunan with no spice?) so when she went off that day I was totally clueless on how to handle it!! I could not make her happy, in fact I couldn't even touch her and she's captain snuggle bug! I so feel for you girl. I know your mama heart is breaking, not being able to just make this all go away now!!! My best advice... Yep, it is your birthday Emme Jade!!! Get that baby some cake and icecream and balloons and a clown to visit!! Blow bubbles and sing Happy Birthday!! Shower her with stay still presents like books and play dough and crafts!!! Can I come to the party?? Love you guys!!

I just found your blog, and wanted to say that we will be praying for your sweetheart! We also have a daughter, now 6, adopted from China at 18 months with a tethered cord. She is doing well, and has not yet had surgery. Blessings, and we will be keeping up with your family! Regina

"For I know the plans I have for Emme Jade, says the Lord; plans to prosper and not to harm her. Plans to give her hope and a future." Jer. 29:11

As I prayed this verse many times today, I added "plans to protect her leg mobility, her bladder and her spinal fluid".

God loves her even more than you do!

With care and prayers,

Jane K
