Ruby's Turn to See Her BFF!

ru2

This time Jeff's travels took him to Chicago!!! Guess who's BFF lives in the windy city? Precious Lucy and Ruby are together again after almost a year!! She has missed her so much! We have been counting down the sleeps since we told her about this special trip! Not only did she get to see her long lost friend, she got to finally meet Kit, and celebrate Miss B's birthday!

How cute are these three with their bows all on the same side!!

This just makes me smile! Ruby is so happy!!!!

Thank you Bridget and Rich for loving our girl for a few days. What a blessing it is to have friends like you!!! B even got Ruby to take a nap! Was she two the last time she did that for me? Bridget, you are the baby whisperer!!! I can't wait until you train Emme Jade for me!

Tomorrow my sweet girl comes back. Sienna will be so excited. Earlier today she yelled from the kitchen, "Mom... How do you spell, "I miss you Ruby!" Priceless!

Less than one month and it's my turn to leave on a jet plane and visit my pal! I get to play with Bridget and all of the girls at the beach soon! I can't wait!!

Bridget posted pics from their fun day at Lake Michigan today here!

LOA!!! LOA!!! LOA!!!!

LOA-EmmeJade

At 5:28pm I received an email from our amazing China Coordinator that our LOA has arrived! We are very hopeful that this puts us in a position to travel in early to mid-August! Our next wait is for TA (travel authorization)... This step took eight weeks with Sienna. It's possible we actually could get there close to her third birthday on July 24th!! Thank you to all of you who were praying for us!! We are excited and humbled at this chance to bring another one of God's precious children home!!

Emme Jade! China has blessed us with their permission to officially adopt you!!
We can't wait to meet you and take care of you forever!!

"I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him!"

Mom and her Girls!

-26SistersColorPopBLog

Just think when Jeff married me there was just one female to get used to in his life! Fast forward almost 12 years and he has four, five if you count the dog. A few months from now he will have one more. Lucky or crazy? I think the answer is blessed!!!

We had a few minutes while Jeff was getting ready for church on Sunday to take some photos. I love seeing all of my chicks together. And, of course I can't wait to add Miss Emme Jade to the mix. We took all the girls on a bike ride on Saturday. Jeff and I just laughed when we saw them all in a row in front of us... It's amazing when I think of how we got here! Thank you Lord for having a much better plan than we could have ever designed for our family!

I am finding that there is a reason I do not like being in pictures anymore... How do you get wrinkles on your nose? Good grief!!!

This beloved bear may be re-stuffed 100 times before Ruby enters college... Kate gave it to her when she was two, and it is so loved!

I just got back from Mother's Day at Ainsley's school today.... Let's just say you will all tear up when you see what she wrote about what she wants to do in the future. I will share when I get the project back from her teacher.

This precious photo came with the other beautiful one last week.... So fun to see her with out all of her layers on... Those shoes came from us.. And, I think that PJ top too!!! Yes, I am admitting my blondness (and age) here... I honestly can't remember what the pajamas looked like that I sent her! :) I guess I better start taking photos of care packages going forward!

Sienna is in her doll phase right now!!!!! I love it! Neither Ainsley or Ruby have ever had interest in playing with dolls for long periods of time... However, Sienna is bringing Ruby into her American Girl world!!! She is very excited to play dolls with Emme Jade. Rumor has it, she loves them too!

4 Incredible Years With Her Rubiness!

041

Four years ago, I started my Mother's Day in Guangzhou, China very early in the morning. It was the start of my sixth day with Ruby Mei, and I was already madly in love with her. She was slowly revealing the amazing child she would prove to be. I could have never imagined that God was laying the foundation to call us back to China two more times. Ruby Mei has shown us in so many ways the joy that comes with following God's plan for our lives. I will never forget this very special Mother's Day! A powerful post was written by Jeff about his visit to Ruby's finding place on Mother's Day, May 13, 2007.

You can read it here.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to spend the afternoon with Her Rubiness. What a blessing it was for me to be with her. Our first stop was to see Brie, so Ruby could get her hair cut. Always a highlight for my girls!! The next stop, the Arboretum for our annual dandelion pick! Even though the dandelions were not as plentiful as previous years, she had fun running around. And, she did manage to find a bouquet to share!! We enjoyed a beautiful lunch at the Arb, and a great walk around the blooming tulips and daffodils. It was a perfect way to spend our afternoon!

Ruby is very excited for her "anniversary!" She will tell anyone that will listen about it! We are celebrating Ruby Tuesday and Mother's Day at one of our favorite restaurants.

During our lunch yesterday, I was telling Ruby about what a blessing she has been in my life. She asked me to share her special story with her.. She loves to hear about the day we met. She laughs when I tell her that she gave us a taste of just how loud she would prove to be on that first day.. She also laughs when she hears she was dressed in a sweatshirt and sweatpants when it was 90+ degrees out.. And, she smiles when I tell her she was the only baby in the room that had barrettes in her hair, and that they said "Love Love!" She soaks in every detail of that day.

Yesterday I shared with Ruby that God has used her in a very special way already in her young life. I explained that many people followed her journey. I told her I have received several emails from Mom's who were encouraged to endure their waits because of Ruby Mei. She loved knowing that she has perhaps helped some other little girls from China come home to their forever families. I can think of one that calls her sister and one that will soon! When we got home she immediately shared how God has used her with Sienna!! :)

There is something very special about this little girl. She has a joy about her that is contagious. As I have said her highs are high, and her low's are loud!! Most likely you will have a smile on your face after an encounter with Her Rubiness!

In late August or early September Ruby will become a big sister for the first time. I honestly can't wait for this. As much as I was concerned about Ruby losing her "baby in the family" status those fears are gone. She is going to have so much fun helping with Emme Jade! She has big plans for her little sister! She prays for her every night! We held hands yesterday and threw pennies in the fountain. Her wish was for our LOA so Emme could come home!

This fall, Ruby will also enter Kindergarten with her sister Sienna. According to her teachers, she is more than ready for this. We are excited to see her thrive. Miss Franz has no idea what she is in for!!! My guess is, Her Rubiness will steal a few hearts at Chapel Hill!

I think it's fitting that Ruby's anniversary lands on Mother's Day this year. She has taught me amazing life lessons since Ruby Tuesday, 2007. She has taught me that there truly are no boundaries when it comes to loving a child. She has taught me that some days motherhood is just about sitting back, and finding the beauty in a field of dandelions.. My prayer for Ruby is that she will always find the beauty in the world around her. And, that God will use her to do mighty things! Happy Ruby Tuesday precious Ruby Mei! What a gift you are!

Lastly, Happy Mother's Day to my Mom and to all the amazing Mom's I know and love!

Is It Really May?

DSC_0795

I can not believe it is May!!! We have not even had Spring yet here. Snow flakes yesterday.. At this point, I would like to just order up summer... So ready!!

First, I want to start out by saying CONGRATULATIONS to my friends Joe and Jennifer on their referral of the beautiful Anna Kate!!!!!!! Joe and Jen own "My Adoption Websites" and they have helped us to journal our trips to our girls over the past five years!!!! And for the majority of that time, they have been waiting for this precious child!!! FINALLY after waiting so faithfully they received their referral when they least expected it on Friday!!!!! What a fun surprise! If you want to follow their journey, you can see their website here! Miss Anna Kate was worth waiting for!!!!!

Life is crazy over here while we wait for our LOA... PRAYING it is this week. It has been way to quiet in the adoption community lately. I loathe this part of the wait.... Thankfully, I know it will happen.. But, the impatient part of me wants to know when it will happen. I want my baby girl!!!!

DSC_0779

The month of May is looking like a very busy one for our family!.. As school winds down the calendar is getting filled! And, Jeff is traveling a lot!!! So, I will be a crazy person... Hoping to take some photos of Ruby this week doing what she loves most.. Picking dandelions!!! However, we need Spring to arrive for that to happen!!! Sunday, Mother's Day, will be our four year anniversary with our precious girl!!

OK - time to get the girls moving!! I am the bus driver today!

Congrats Joe and Jen!!!!! I am just thrilled for you!
