Music - I need some ideas....
OK - I am working on our China "documentary" (OK video) and I need some help!!!! I am looking for some music suggestions. If anyone has some great songs they love, or have heard on other videos that are meaningful, I would love to hear them. At the moment my first draft is LONG, so I could use several. Let's just say it won't download here anytime soon... But, while I am playing with it, music is key!!!! Here are some of the songs I have downloaded:
-"Be Still & Know" - Steven Curtis Chapman
-"A Mothers Prayer" - Carnie Wilson
-"You are so Beautiful" - Joe Cocker
-"Swept Away" - Geoff Moore
-"Over the Rainbow" - Martina McBride
-"What a Wonderful World" - Looking for version I like
-"When God Made You" - Various Artists
Any thoughts? THANKS
-Diana

Hi Diana,
I have been following your post for a while and love to look at the BEAUTIFUL pictures of your precious girls. I have never posted a comment, but I couldn't pass up this opportunity. One of my very special friends used a song called Thought You'd Be Here - by Christian artist Wes King on their adoption video and it was wonderful.
Good luck with your project!
Angie (mom of three WONDERFUL girl's)
Diana,
We have a video of Paige's adoption journey and we used "From this Moment" by Shania Twain and the song from the Tarzan soundtrack by Phil Collins. It brings tears to my eyes every single time I watch it. You'll have an emotional blast making this project of love : )
"You'll Be in My Heart" Tarzan theme song by Phil Collins
I found this link to some songs http://adoption.families.com/blog/adoption-related-music-and-songs and this one http://lifemothers.com/adoptionsongs.html
Hi Diana,
I'm online friends with Tracy & Adam and I've been a big fan of your blog since you got Ruby. We just got back from China with our daughter in September and I've been looking at music for my video too. I really like the song by Avalon - Orphans of God.
Good luck with your video!

I have Over the Rainbow by Katherine McFee on our blog if you'd like to hear that version. Looking forward to seeing you finished product!

Hi Diana I have been following your blog for a while now. And I have to say you have two beautiful daughters.
In regards to a song choice being the avid Martina fan; how about Blessed or In my Daughters Eyes.
Amazed by Lonestar
You'll Always Be My Baby by Sara Evans
Baby Mine - Alison Krauss is the only version that sticks out in my mind
Oh Love by Brad Paisley with Carrie Underwood.
Those are just a few suggestions :)
Looking forward to seeing the final thing :D

Taking you home by Don Henley is a great song to use. Your family is beautiful.
Diana, I will have to send you a copy of my favorites, I will email you.

Ordinary Miracles by Sarah McLachlan from the Charlotte's Web movie.
I just received a dvd from someone in my travel group. She made a movie for all of us, with that music in the background. Tear were flowing, let me tell you. :)
Good luck and have fun!

Can't wait to see it! One of my favorites is "How long do you want to be loved?" by Dixie Chicks.
Angie
Diana:
A song we listened to through the adoption was "I knew I loved You" By Savage Garden and also"Have you ever been in love" by Celine Dion! Hope this helps!

Hi Diana,
Sure love reading your comments and seeing your girls.
My all time favorite song, and the song I'll use at our baby's dedication (if I live long enough to receive a referral from China) is Mark Harris's "Find your Wings" - Here's a link to Mark Harris singing it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knm492yxMfo
Hope you enjoy the song!
Hey Diana - I looked at the actual song title for "How long do you want to be loved...." and it's actually called lullabye. I think you can hear it on you tube! Precious song! "Is forever enough? Is forever enough?"
Have a good day!
Angie...again
Hi Diana,
"There is only one" ... by Twila Paris. You can download it from itunes.
All the best on the video of your beautiful girls!
Debbie :-)!
Diana,
I did this exact post several months ago and got some great suggestions. I'll look for it and send you an e-mail with the link. Of course, I cannot upload any video due to a software glitch now and all production on my documentary has halted. Our 1 year anniversary is soon approaching in 3 months and I wanted it done by then:(
L:ook for an e-mail later from me.
Love,
Kim
Hi Diana,
I love Celine Dion's Miracle CD as it is all dedicated to her son Renee Charles. There's one son called "If I Could" that is absolutely beautiful and makes me cry everytime I hear it.
I hope this helps,
Wow! You're getting a lot of suggestions, Di. I haven't done Lindy's documentary yet but have thought of various songs I'd use...
I like:
In My Daughter's Eyes by Martina McBride
Brahm's Lullaby
Somewhere Out There-Linda Rondstadt
How Can I Keep From Singing-Enya and Chris Tomlin. These are two different songs but I love Enya's voice on hers and the sentiment of Chris Tomlin's lyrics...
Daddy's Little Girl-not sure...
These are just a couple that come to mind.
Can't wait to see the final product.
Love,
Lisa
Di --
Angie took my suggestion (Lullabye), which Ellie loves too! I also love the Don Henley song that was suggested -- especially this verse:
And this love
Is like nothing I have ever known
Take my hand, love
I'm taking you home
I'm taking you home
Where we can be with the ones who really care
Home, where we can grow together
Keep you in my heart forever
There's also some great father/daughter songs (Paul Simon's or John Mayer), and if you wanted to throw in something more upbeat, maybe "You are the sunshine of my life" by Stevie Wonder. Fits Ruby's personality!
During the final months of our wait, the KT Tunstall song "Suddenly I See" was all over the radio. Every time I heard it, I could just picture holding Ellie for the first time. Anyway, it is such an upbeat song, yet it would make me cry!
Her face is a map of the world
Is a map of the world
You can see she's a beautiful girl
She's a beautiful girl
And everything around her is a silver pool of light
The people who surround her feel the benefit of it
It makes you calm
She holds you captivated in her palm
Suddenly I see
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see
Why the hell it means so much to me
Sorry this is so long, but what a fun project!
Wow!! What a lot of great song suggestions! I'm going to have to save them for whenever I can work on a project like this. :o) sigh.
Would love to see the finished product!
Blessings!
THANK YOU EVERYONE for all of your great suggestions. I am downloading several of them from Itunes to play with. Again, thank you for taking the time out of your busy days to do this for me!!!!
Ruby is napping, so I am off to play with my "movie!"
Love,
Diana
Lullabye is our fav too, Piper asks me to sing it all the time. When we do her adoption video it will be on it.
Sweet sweet Baby is also nice from Michelle featherstone.
good luck, and I hope we all get a chance to see the final version
Hayley
Hi Diana,
I'm a lurker here but had to join in on this one. I love your blog! We are beginning the process of adopting from China (WC). Your story gives me hope.
I could not ask for more (Sara Evans)
Ain't no mountain high enough (Marvin Gaye and somebody else?)
You'll be in my heart (Phil Collins)
Orphans of God (Avalon)
Find your wings (Mark Harris)
I'm sure some of these have been mentioned but no time to read the others at the moment. Laundry is calling...
A fun song to add would be Jack Johnson's "Better Together".
