Thankful for my Parents today!

Diana Jo - 6 months
44 years ago, my beautiful mother gave birth to me at 7:30am via C-section. I can imagine perfectly my handsome Dad pacing the halls of the hospital in Hammond, IN. He tells me this story often... After they came in to tell him that he had a new daughter, they broke the news to him that her tongue was tied, and that it would need to be "snipped!" If you knew my father, you would know that this news would not be taken lightly. To this day he worries and watches over his "babies!" long distance like the doting and loving father he has always been! Ironically, that "tongue-tied" baby girl went on to be a Speech Communication's Major, and spent her professional career talking for a living. I am not usually at a loss for words, very often! I am sure Jeff would agree with that statement!
This thankful Thursday post is dedicated to my parents:
- To Mom for bringing me into this world so gracefully
- To Mom & Dad for giving me so many opportunities as a child
- For all the times you watched me fall (literally on the ice and in life) and gave me the courage and the confidence to pick myself up again
- For encouraging independence
- For being there in the peaks and valleys of my life
- For celebrating the wins, and the blessings
- For always being willing to help, no matter what the need
- For demonstrating the importance of sacrificing self to help others
- For the love and time you give to friends, family, organizations, church, etc.
- For teaching me the importance of respecting authority, loved ones, & most importantly God
- For loving me unconditionally
- For loving your Granddaughters so deeply
My list could go on and on.... Most importantly I have been blessed to be raised by two parents that have been married for almost 55 years. Who put others before them, and who until the end of time will love all three of their children for who God created them to be!
"Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it."
Proverbs 22:6
I love you!
Diana

That is such a sweet post. Good parents are the best gift.
Beautiful post. Happy Birthday, Diana!
What a blessing to have such loving and devoted parents... who obviously did a beautiful job in raising you! Your parents sound like they modeled so beautifully the love God has for His children, each one wonderfully made :)
Happy Birthday, Di!!
This is so sweet and tender...I so loved reading it and witnessing the love you have for your mom and dad. My dad passed away suddenly over seven years ago and not a day goes back that my heart doesn't ache for missing him.
What a beautiful Thankful Thursday!
Happy Birthday Diana!
Hope you have many more years of blessings to come.
Happy Birthday Diana! Your parents sound wonderful.
Many blessings on this special day.
Oh what a sweet post Diana! Happy Birthday, there is no way you are 44! What is your secret? I have never heard of your condition in the literal sense, that is amazing that you were able to over come that and become a professional speaker! Amazing! Your parents sound like wonderful role models! I see where you get it from! Hope you had a magical day!
Happy, Happy Birthday!!

What a beautiful post. Happy Birthday!!! I'll be 44 in September.
I love this post - I need a kleenex - and I have no words.
Have a happy, happy birthday - what a blessing to have such wonderful parents - it's the way I feel about my folks too, you just said it so beautifully!

;pWhat a wonderful post on your blog. I was at a mother-daughter brunch this weekend where the topic was "leaving a legacy." Your parents surely gave the gift of a legacy to not only you, but your daughters and their children too!
Blessings to you for a joyous year as you celebrate your birthday.
Michelle
