My Little Plaid Escape Artist!!
The inevitable happened.... I knew it would..... I was hoping it wouldn't yet..... Her Rubiness has learned how to "escape" out of her crib... So on her 28th month, on the 12th day, at approximately 1:00pm central time this cute little plaid package appeared to me and announced, "Sorry Mama, No Bed!!" Other than the fact that her delivery was adorably calm and perfect, I am not excited about this new chapter. You see, I am a self-described Introvert-Extrovert. I covet the two hours a day I have every afternoon to re-charge my batteries. Going into winter I am definitely not ready to give up my selfish time yet! So, I am hoping this is a phase that we can ignore and move through! This little active bundle is not ready for a bed. OK - maybe this big active bundle is not ready for her to have a bed!The other impressive thing to note here is that she is GOOD at getting out. Her dismount out of the crib is worthy of a "10" from the judges. No hard landings! Just simple grace with a small "tah-dah" probably thrown in. You see, I asked her to show me what she did... She happily performed the in and out version for me! "Out Mama......, No Bed, Sorry Mama!!" :)
This photo was taken during what would have been my coveted nap time.... In this cupboard in our kitchen is where I keep the band-aids and vitamins. Ruby is obsessed with both! Please note, no stool or chair needed for Ruby here... Need your diaper changed Ruby? No problem Mom, let me climb up on the changing table for you so you don't have to strain your back lifting me!!! The Grandma's will be happy about this!
Kidding aside, she absolutely makes our life here so entertaining. We are blessed she CAN get out of her crib, and that she does have a sense of humor about it... Yes - we have boundaries here, but I just refuse to punish a girl for being who God made her to be. A joyful spirit, who loves the feel of the wind in her hair, the snow on her feet, and who does not want to miss out on a darn thing at 1:00 Central Time!

Oh my goodness! This post brightened my day. God has amazing things in store for this little girl!
Oh my, how could one get upset with one that adorable?? You have, as usual, the most wonderful take on it... thank goodness she is just becoming the little one God intended her to be :)
It also looks like the cabinet where the olive oil is kept...now that is a mess - how about a crib tent - I used one with my daughter and it was fine - she got where she wanted it zipped - (after at 14 mths she escaped (we had been home about a week at that point).
We have the simple rule - you have to stay in your bed - you can relax - or play quietly but you can't get out (once she got around 3 1/2 I let her get out - and come crusing around the house) she was out of the crib at about 2 1/2 (I will have to ck my blog - thank goodness for that)

Oh the trouble her and Hudson could get into!!! I have ALWAYS coveted my 2 hour time in the aft..going back to 16 years ago..well, Hudson changed all that. He doesn't nap but thankfully is SUCH a joy and so entertaining what I thought I would die to give up has turned into sweet times.
Our Friday isn't so happy but we are keeping our eyes on HIM!!

Boy do I remember the importance of nap time! Yes, it's a sad day when that starts to go away! Hopefully, she'll still nap for you.
Too funny! Maggie still won't get out of her bed until I go and get her...I guess I should feel lucky, huh?

First....I wanted those PJ"s and they sold out at our Gymboree! I wanted all 3 peanuts in them. Secondly, I feel for you. I love that nap time:) Miss Kate is going through the same phase. Today I bribed her...if she mapped we went for smoothies after picking up the boys from school. She napped!
I just had to comment! That sounds JUST like Em... including the 10 on the dismount.
I wish you luck convincing her to stay in her crib! I did convince Em to stay there and "read" for at least an hour and I would give her a treat. It only took a couple of treats before it became routine and she did stay in the crib. But it also turned out she started to fall asleep again, so I got lucky. For now. :)

Oh my, oh my - what a climber and such a cute photo! So far I am lucky that my girl has not tried either of these feats. Like you, I ike some down time and the fact that she can play content in her crib sometimes is such a blessing.. but the day is coming.

Both your girls are absolutely beautiful! I have followed your blog for a while but have not commented until now. I originally "met" your family on the myadoptionwebsite and followed your journey and then connected to your blog. I am a faithful 3 Peanuts follower. I'm a SAHM to 2 boys, Preston who is 4 and little Cooper who is just 4 weeks today! We are originally from Atlanta but were transferred with my hubby's job 2 years ago to New Jersey! Anyway, just wanted to "introduce" myself. Your family is just precious- Ainsley seems like the best big sister Ruby could ask for. And that darling Ruby- her smile is infectious! You take wonderful pictures, very talented.

Oh boy, you have got your hands full! I can totally relate, I call Myah my little Houdini, I don't know how she accomplishes some of the things that she does.
I have had to put a gate in front of her door so she doesn't escape after nap, everything in our house is Myah proofed. I never know what I am going to find next.
It is exhausting isn't it?! I am there with you sister!
